Trip Itinerary
Come join us on an epic 7 days of wildlife viewing in the infamous Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park. Explore the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, take a Mokoro ride through the heart of the Delta, and make extensive game drives along the Savuti Region, the Khwai Concession, and the Moremi Game Reserve. This marvelous region of Botswana is home to some of the most impressive animals in the world, giving you a chance to spot families of elephants and hippos, herds of zebra, antelope, giraffe and wildebeest, and the very rare and beautiful white and black rhinos. As stunning as these creatures are, lurking in the distance are some of the most deadly and graceful predators in the world, home to many prides of lions, as well as the leopard, cheetah, hyena and crocodile. With so much variety to offer, this wonderful oasis in the heart of Botswana will surely amaze at every stop.
We depart for our first day of safari early in the morning, and head to the Makgadikgadi Pans, a stunning area known for its myriad of Salt Pans. Our first day of safari has us exploring the Nxai Pan, one of the largest of the many topographic depressions in the region. Herds of zebras and wildebeest can be seen grazing after the rains come, and the pans are also home to many antelope species, such as the gemsbok and eland. After a day admiring the wildlife and scenery, we depart for camp for a fireside dinner and stargazing.
Overnight Camping
After our first night of camping, we depart a little deeper into the Kumaga Pans, where herds of elephants are plentiful. This area is quite magnificent, and the salt flats you are exploring stretch for miles, covering an area almost as large as Switzerland. Get your binoculars out, as this is a great area for bird watching, as some 350 species call this area home. After our final day in the salt pans, we have one more night at camp before we make our trip to the Okavango Delta.
Overnight Camping
As we depart for one last game drive out of the Makgadikgadi Pans, we head back towards Maun before making the quick drive to the Mokoro Station, our launching point to the Okavango Delta. We meet our captain and load up the mokoro, traditionally a wooden canoe pushed through the high grass waters of the delta. Keep your eyes peeled for herds of wildebeest and the occasional family of elephants, as well as many different species of exotic birds on our way to camp. If time allows, your guide will take you on a short walk before our campfire dinner and comfy beds.
Overnight Camping
Up bright and early this morning, we depart for a game walk after a hearty breakfast and coffee. After a few days in the Land Cruiser, it feels good to stretch our legs and navigate through the wilderness. You are really on safari now as we search for animals on foot, stalking the herds of zebra and wildebeest just like the many big cats that occasionally grace the area. After a good morning of solid game watching, we depart on our mokoro ride back to the station, and hop in the jeep for a drive to the Moremi Game Reserve. This area boasts impressive wildlife and it’s breathtaking wilderness, with picturesque views of floodplains, lagoons and grasslands will have you mesmerized.
Overnight Camping
After packing up our camp, we enjoy a game drive through Moremi out to the Khwai Concessions, departing on a Mokoro ride through an area that will delight with its diverse beauty comprising of a stunning landscape of forests, lagoons, floodplains and islands teeming with wildlife. Game viewing is excellent year-round as resident species such as the lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, and countless others roam this impressive landscape. Tonight we have the option for a night drive in the Khwai if you are feeling adventurous.
Overnight Camping
After a good cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast, we depart on towards Savuti, hoping to see some last minute wildlife as we make our way through Khwai. Our afternoon will consist of a good game drive exploring the array of wildlife and wilderness that Savuti offers. Savuti is well known for its’ predators, most notably its’ resident lion and hyena population, and if we are lucky we may just get up close and personal.
Overnight Camping
Unfortunately, our final day of safari has arrived. As we pack up camp, we then head on a game drive through the Savuti area on our way to Kasane. The plains are always a highlight and the area is known for its great concentration of predators, as well as herds of buffalo, antelope and zebra. After a full final day of game drives, we depart for Kasane and your next adventure.
